Nurturing Democracy and Freedom of Medical Choice - part deux (2)
The Circle of Medical Freedom and Choice
I will continue to elaborate on the French Order of Physicians’ decision to restrict medical choice and free speech. The narrative calls for defining and conveying what is known to our colleagues at the L’Ordre des Médecins, appealing to their acceptance of alternative and complementary medicine. It emphasizes the interconnected circles of medical and social freedom, arguing that the restriction of medical freedom jeopardizes other aspects of personal freedom, leading to tyranny.
When organizations like the French Ministry of Health and the L’Ordre des Médecins can strip the ability of doctors to practice medicine without due process, this is the derriere of something of the mal.* Those decisions are of the tyranny rather than democratic-thinking humans.
*back of something that is not good
What can be done against the suppression of free speech against organizations like the French Order of Physicians?
Times like these force us to ask ourselves - what unifies us? Why can’t others see as we do? These are difficult questions, for sure. But the truth burns in the flame, and we must find ways to keep the flame alive. The forces behind this movement are dark and malevolent, never showing themselves. It’s facile to see that pharmaceutical companies and hospital corporations lurk behind these organizations.
Defining what’s known and what we are trying to transcend to our colleagues at the L’Ordre des Médecins is necessary. Based on faith, we’re asking them to accept that the alternative and complementary medical techniques, such as percutaneous hydrotomy and mesotherapy paradigm, are solid in their basis, results, and safety.
We exist in a circle of medical freedom; you, and you alone, have medical freedom, the choice of what happens with your body. In most countries, you have autonomy over your body, depending on age. This is solely your possession. In many ways, it’s the only thing you really have.
That circle of medical freedom is inextricably linked to the circle of social freedom, which is free speech. This includes your family, employment, faith, and your citizenship. If we allow the circle of medical freedom to be touched, let alone be broken, then all the circles fracture, and we fall into a state of tyranny. The writing is on the wall, and the determination to preserve medical freedom is in our hands.
A personal anecdote involving a discussion with one of my physician colleagues from Hungary, who told me that medical choice should be available for all. But in the same breath, he also mentioned that he thought homeopathy should be restricted because “it’s just water.” The French Ministry of Health used this exact argument. I looked at him and disagreed, saying, I understand what you’re saying, but if people want to use homeopathy or blessed holy water, for that matter, to heal themselves, they ought to have the right. And the moment you restrict that right, it forms a slippery slope for everything else after it.
Indeed, suppose somebody wants to treat their cancer with homeopathy. They should be advised of the risks, benefits, and alternatives of using only homeopathy to treat cancer and that we have better ways to treat such things, but if they want to hold on to the belief that homeopathy can help them, that’s not the domain of the State to restrict a person from exercising their beliefs and freedom of medical choice. After thinking about it, my physician colleague talked about how his grandfather was a prisoner in the gulags, and it was years before he was released. He concluded that he agreed it’s not a good idea to restrict medical freedom even in the case of homeopathy, no matter how much he doesn’t believe in it.
We can’t forget the history of what happened in communist countries like Russia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, and many others. Remember what happened in Romania when the government mandated that women have more babies and ensuing the anti-abortion laws. Gynecologic exams were State-monitored and miscarriages were questioned. We must never forget what depths humans are capable of following their shadows into the sinews of their hearts, making the lives of other humans literally hell. It’s this comparison that we will find ourselves if we use the State as a tool to restrict free speech and free medical choice, such as what France and other countries are currently involved in doing. It isn’t easy to think that we could have another Gulag archipelago. For an excellent reference about what happened in the Soviet Union in the 1900s, The White Pill by Michael Malice is an excellent read.
We saw that the French were terrible during COVID-19, with some of the worst lockdowns in Europe. They, and many other countries like them, quickly turned the beautiful democracy that once existed into a state-run organization resembling 1930s Russia. The lockdowns and restrictions were so alarming that neighbors spied and reported on one another. For example, France and Australia imposed a perimeter around each person’s house, and you could not exit your domicile more than once per day unless certain conditions were met. Many reports of neighbors turning others in if they saw their neighbors breaking these rules. These are East Germany’s Stasi-type tactics. We can never regress to that.
The following article will address how organizations like the French Order of Physicians and others weaponize social media.
